Adventures in Marriage....by Ruthie

So I have almost been married one year and as of recently am trying to get pregnant. So far I have learned the following:
1- the first year of marriage is not the hardest. I don't know which year that will be, nor do I know why people always say the first year is the hard one but its not. If you know the person you are marrying (we were together 9ish years before marriage) then the first year will not be that hard.
2- trying to get pregnant is really fun! And for those of you who are confused by this comment it means that having lots of sex and not being stessed out that you could get pregnant is totally fun! It occured to me recently that I am no longer on the pill, I am no longer worrying about preventing pregnancy, I am encouraging it, woohoo!
More to come...

Movie Reviews......by Ginger and Ruthie

Rating-0-5 cheese, 5 being the best movie ever (like a really fabulous new york sharp chedder or danish blue), 0 being total crap (kraft singles)

Avatar:
Ginger-very strange mix between the blue man group, transformers, and twilight that took way too long to be over! 3-d may have been its only saving grace! 3/5 cheese

Ruthie- first this is not the first movie I have seen in the last 6 months that involved a giant blue alien...the first was Watchmen, which was horrible! Horrible! It did contain full frontal male nudity, which was funny, however overall horrible! Avatar was long. I liked the 3-D and visually it was amazing but it was just such a long long movie ( I'm talking two VHS tapes long, the kind of movie you that you had to rent on TWO tapes because it was sooo long) and the story seemed like it was dragging on and on. I would give it a 3/5 cheese, however without the 3D this rating would be lower.

Wedding Crashers (I know this is not a new movie BUT by reading our ratings it will help give you a vibe for the kind of movies we like):

Ruthie: This is the movie I judge other funny movies on. I loved it! I would give it a really solid 5/5. It is the perfect mix of stupid/silly humor and some smarter well thought out lines. Plus you get to see Vince Vaughn in madras pants and Christopher Walken is in it, all good things! And it is full of great one liners that stick in your head and make you laugh later when you are thinking about them. And one more point. If you are ever watching it on TBS they dub "Jesus Christ!" with "Cheese and Rice!" which only makes it funnier! Vince Vaughn screaming "cheese and rice!" is all laughs in my book.

Ginger: not only would I like to be Rachel Mcadams when I grow up but I also love any Vince Vaughn/Owen Wilson combo. This movie is by far one of the funniest I have ever seen! From beginning to end it is full of fabulous, sarcastic one liners that I just can't get enough of. And it has a happy ending! 5/5 cheese!

Food, Inc:

Ginger: I was slightly disturbed by the slaughterhouse depictions that were thrown in without warning throughout this movie. I know the realities of slaughterhouses but didn't really want to see them in action. I think this movie has good points and is an eye opener in many ways. It was fairly disturbing though and has put me off meat for a while. And when I am back to eating meat again I am only buying through local producers at farmers markets. Factory farms (shudder) are awful! 3/5 cheese

Adventures in Online Dating.......by Ginger

Newly single as I am I have decided to explore the world of online dating. This may very well prove to be a mistake. I signed up at 2 popular sites to see how it goes. The first, okcupid, is free. The second, match, is not. 1 week into it all and I'm not feeling very successful. It's very possible the world of online dating is not for me. I have never met anyone that I've dated through an online source. Does anyone else think online dating is wierd?? I'm going to hang with it for now and see what happens......

Week 2....
Does anyone else out there feel like you are shopping for a date when you are browsing profiles on these sites?? It's kind of creeping me out! Needless to say I have cancelled my match.com account, there were too many rules and regulations! To post pics you have to have them "approved" by some unseen force which takes 1-2 days. I just didn't like that I couldn't post what I wanted. (not that I was posting anything inappropriate BUT still!)
And what is up with this whole "wink" system? It's available on both sites but I choose never to respond to guys who only give me a virtual wink! Seriously, if you can't think of a good icebreaker then why are you sending me a fake wink?? Get it together guys!
I have already gotten 2 threesome invites and one guy who wanted just to be friends with benefits. There have been several interesting looking guys on both sites but so far no one interesting enough to actually meet up with. I gave my number to 2 people, one has been calling and texting waaaay too much for me to be comfortable meeting him now and the other just wants to be friends (Or so he says...) and we haven't met up yet.
This online dating thing is turning out to be just as big of a disappointment as I thought it might be. Anyone out there have pointers?
